Controller and fractional CFO support

Quick answer

For startups, SMEs, regional headquarters and family offices that need more than bookkeeping but not a full-time CFO, we provide a controller who owns the monthly close and reporting, and senior finance support for budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow planning and board and investor packs. It sits on top of the bookkeeping and close we already run, so the numbers and the analysis come from one team.

Controller support

  • Owns the monthly close and signs off reconciliations and journals before reporting.
  • Management accounts and KPIs each month, with variance commentary against budget and prior periods.
  • Controls and policies: approval limits, payment controls, month-end checklists and accounting policies written down.
  • Audit coordination: PBC lists, schedules and auditor queries handled through year-end.
  • Multi-entity groups: intercompany, eliminations and consolidated reporting.

Fractional CFO support

  • Annual budget built with each department head and loaded into your reporting.
  • Rolling forecasts of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash, updated monthly or quarterly.
  • Cash flow planning: 13-week cash forecasts, runway and payment planning.
  • Board and investor reporting: monthly or quarterly packs, investor updates and data-room support for a fundraise.
  • Financial strategy: pricing and margin analysis, unit economics, scenario models and funding options.

Who it suits

ProLead has worked with venture-backed companies through their growth stages, including some that have gone all the way through to a public listing.

  • Startups that have raised funding and need investor-grade reporting.
  • SMEs whose owners want a finance partner without a full-time CFO.
  • Regional headquarters in Singapore that report to an overseas parent.
  • Family offices with several holding entities and investment accounts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a controller and a fractional CFO?
A controller makes sure the numbers are right and on time: close, reconciliations, reporting and controls. A fractional CFO uses those numbers to plan: budgets, forecasts, cash, funding and board discussions. Most of our clients start with controller support and add CFO time around budgets, fundraising or board meetings.
How much CFO time do we get?
We agree a monthly allowance of senior hours, typically for the reporting review, a monthly or quarterly finance call and the budget cycle, and add hours around events such as a fundraise or an audit.
Can you work with our investors and auditors?
Yes. We prepare investor and board packs in the format they expect, answer their finance questions with you, and coordinate the year-end audit.
Do you support family offices?
Yes. We consolidate holdings across entities and accounts, track investments and cash, and prepare periodic reports for the family and its advisers.
How is it priced?
As a fixed monthly fee covering the bookkeeping, close and an agreed number of controller and CFO hours, quoted on scope. See pricing.
